I've finished this watercolour showing a juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper today. This will be a price on the birdrace held next weekend in Hortobágy.
I chose this rarity because I found the 7th for Hungary last October (see my previous blog:

I still have to practice a lot in painting with watercolours. First I used masking liquid to cover the reed stems. This resulted some clearcut, mechanical white shapes on the paper after painting the mud (see below). I really hated this effect, so strated the whole over.
