I've started a new oil painting of some autumn Shorebirds. Here's a watercolour sketch of the first version:

The compositional sketch with teh first version on teh left and the final in the middle:

I wanted to make a colour sketch for the new idea, but then I was too lazy to paint it:
The birds drawn with raw sienna:

The surface covered with the greyish blue water, some patches of mud also indicated:

More mud to establish the right perspective:

It took one week to arrive to this stage. I think i was quite out-of-practice with oils, because I did only 2 paintings in the last half year. Now the mud looks promising at last:

It was snowing well yesterday, and it was quite mild today. So I went out to sketch the Long-eared Owls at the usual wintering site close to my home.
