There was a birdwatcher's meeting at Hortobágy this weekend. I had the opportunity to sketch some shorebirds in the area during Friday and Saturday. The birds were quite tame, so could have extremely good views. This photo shows this temporary habitat with the birds:

The majority of the flock were Little Stints and Curlew Sandpipers:

On this closeup, not cropped photo you can see a tiny spider on the top of the head of this juvenile Curlew Sandpiper:

Wonderful sketches! Waders are such beautiful birds, though they sometimes get overlooked for not being colourful.
