I've spent the day by the river, at a small creek. Little Bittern is regular there, and I was lucky to have really good views of both the male and the female. Here's a sketch of the latter:

While waiting for them i could sketch some Edible Frogs:

European Pond Terrapin loved that small creek, sadly the exotic Red-eared Terrapins took up residency, and pushing the native ones out. This was done a few days ago at a gravel pit:

Hi Szabi.
Lucky you. We don´t get the Little Bittern this far north – at least not that I know of.
As always........some fine sketches you have done and in summer temperatures I believe ?
Cheers,
Torben
Good work of Little Bittern. I've posted a few images of my sculptures with this animal as a protagonist in my blog. The smallest heron fascinated me since I first saw it in Doñana.
A hug
Thanks a lot for your comments!
Yes Torbend, it was one of the hottest days these weeks. I had to wet my T-shirt in the river and to cool my body with it.
Fran, those wax sculptures are amazing!! I love them, the way you build up the character. They are like muscles.
I just can't help looking your works!
Especially the Bittern painting is a masterpiece of simplicity and good taste. Love it!
I like your works very much!
Very good light...
You should insert the possibility to follow you blog;..or I haven't found it? Ciao Sandro
